Dairy of Speculating State 'Goa'...

Goa: a natural paradise

Hello, I’m Goa and I’m the smallest state of India. I know that I have a domineering reputation in Indian tourism market and I’ve been the most desirable place to hang out at the subcontinent. I also know that I’m always in center of attention and people call me the ‘Pearl of Orient’ lovingly.

But I’ve become the victim of my own reputation. Since innumerable backpackers from India & abroad come to me for fun & frolicking, I’ve lost my ataraxis. I never sleep; I never rest and can never enjoy the so called solitude & serenity. However, I love this and feel felicitous watching people in jubilant mood all around. I feel proud when people admire my rich cultural heritages, my colorful traditions and appealing history. It’s always nice to see people having happy dining & shopping at my beaches & markets.

My history dates back to the time of Mahabharata, when I was known as Goparashtra: a place famous for its wealth of cowherds. Over the centuries, many renowned dynasties ruled over me. I was the dearest realm of a slews of kinfolks including the Maurya, Chutus, Abhirajs and Rashtrakutas. Later on, the Portuguese took over me, and ruled for more than 450 years.  This was the time when I saw the shimmering heights of development in all the contexts. Fabulous churches, forts and mansions were built to adorn my already-rich history. Ports & roads & railways were added to improve my commercial importance, and I have become a famed tradition center in the country. Like a baby, I’m snuggled in Arms of Mother Nature. The Mighty Arabian Sea protects me in North & South, while the gorgeous Western Ghats incubate me in the East and West.

In 1947, when whole of my nation was breathing freely I was still under the governance of some outsiders. This is when I was feeling jubilant as well as infuriated. But I knew that my destiny can’t betray me so long, and in 1961 I became the part of Independent India and was able to share immunity with all my cuisines like Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal. Today, I’m the most happening state of the country, growing in my own style & pace. The essence within me is not just colorful & aromatic but it is detectable and extremely elating. When I look around me, I saw just happy faces.

My story, as you can see, is a chronicle of happiness and gloominess. I have mixed memories in my memorabilia. But overall, I’m happy with what I’m and can rest assured of making human souls happy & satisfied.
