Five Reasons Why Mussoorie Makes for a Wonderful Honeymoon Destination
I have a special fond for Mussoorie, as this is where we enjoyed our honeymoon. And trust me, this was one of the most beautiful memories of my life.
If you too are seeking for a tranquil place to celebrate your marital status, Mussoorie is the place that i would suggest you without a second thought.
Reasons why Mussoorie is an unbeatable choice as a honeymoon destination? Well a book can be written on it. For the sake of bravity, here're five most irresistible reasons.
Untamed Nature and Wilderness
Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, at an average altitude of 1,880 meters above sea level, Mussoorie is surrounded by lush green hills, scenic Doon Valley and gushing streams and waterfalls. The region features raw beauty of nature and makes for a fantastic location for peaceful retreats. Stunning mountainous views are of course the main USP of Mussoorie. A peaceful and pristine environment well complemented by a sumptuous weather just add to its romantic vibe and make it a big hit among love-birds.
Majestic Kempty Fall
No visit to Mussoorie is complete without having fun and frolic under this majectic waterfall. It is situated on on Mussoorie-Yamunotri Road, about 15km from Mussoorie, and boasts magnificent natural beauty. There is a natural pond under the Kempty Fall, where tourists, majorly couples and families, can be seen bathing and having playful times. Swimming suites and inflatable floats and tubes are available on rent. Photography is allowed, but make sure you carry a waterproof camera.
Shopping on the Mall Road
A hang-out place for locals and tourists alike, Mussoorie's Mall Road is replete with an eclectic range of shops, eateries, hotels and entertainment avenues. Buy handmade brass statue, ceramic vases, jamavar shawls and antiques! the market is also popular for its quality range of electronic goods and apparels. Those interested in handcrafts and artefacts should visit the Classic Emporium; the place is famed for its hefty collection of Tibetan sculptures, colourful lampshades, porcelain figurine and British furniture.
Exotic Bird Kingdom
The lush green valleys and hills around Mussorie are home to many beautiful species of birds. Head to the Malsi deer park to watch a few varieties of deer frolicking in their natural habitat. Many people trek to Jwala Devi Temple to enjoy the breathtaking views of Himalayas, along with birding. Lal Tibba Peak in another place you can head to for watching many lovely bird species. Some of the commonly seen birds in this part of Himalays include Black Francolin (Black Partridge), Grey Francolin (Grey Partridge), Common Quail, Rain Quail (Black-breasted Quail)and Blue-breasted Quailpart of Himalayas.
Simple, Cheerful Locals
People in Mussorie are quite helpful, at least i found them so. In spite of being remote, the fol here seem very happy and cheerful. Although, modernism has spread its wings, the place still has a simplistic and laid-back charm, which is hard to find. Most of the travel agencies in Mussoorie are operated by the locals. They have fixed charges for transportation and other tourist facilities. However, you need to be smart while dealing with riksshaw-pullers, as they often demand the tourists double of what it should actually be.
The below pictures are a proof for my conclusions.
