Red Fort



Almost every tourist arriving in Delhi pays homage to this mammoth structure dating back to the 16th century. Located in Old Delhi (Chandni Chauk being the nearest Metro Station), Red Fort attracts tourists for its stunning architectural beauty and grand historical significance. Inside the fort are many small monuments, neatly-manicured gardens and a museum that showcases many artefacts, paintings and weapons preserved from the eras gone by. The fort remains closed on Monday; so plan your visit accordingly.


Jama Masjid


Just a walking distance from the Red Fort, Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in India and is an important pilgrimage site for Muslims from across the globe. The mosque was also built by Shahjahan, a mughal emperor, and has three massive gates, four angle towers and two minarets. It is majorly built of red sandstone and white marble. Surrounding the mosque is the famous Mina Bazaar, where tourists can fill their bags with unique souvenirs.


The National Museum

The museum Displays rich history of India and is definitely a place to be if you love exploring culture and history. An array of exhibitions showcases many items of historical importance; Rare relics of Harappan Civilization, beautiful antiquities from Central Asia, sacred Buddhist objects and numerous old-paintings are just to name a few. The museum is big, so spare at least 3-4 hours to explore it all. It is situated on Janpath and the opening hours are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Qutub Minar




Qutub Minar is a UNESCO heritage site; build during 11th-12th century. A tower that stands 73 meters tall looks stunning with its majestic height as well as unique architecture design. The five story tower has a diameter of 50ft at the base and 8ft at the top. There are stairs inside the tower to reach on the top. However, visitors are not allowed to go up due to security reasons. A 7ft high pillar in the courtyard of the mosque complex is also a tourist attraction.


Apart from the above attractions, Akshardham Temple, Lotus Temple, the Old Fort, the Parliament House and India Gate are other popular sites in the Indian National Capital.
